2013

Today is the last day of 2013. Its been a great year full of art, music, friendships and family! Highlights include The Umpqua show at the Upstairs Art Gallery which truly pushed my painting and professionalism to a new level.  Showing at Natural Selections on the Arcata Plaza, which was a dream come true to be in such a great location. Having A few paintings hung backstage at Reggae on the River, and seeing so much amazing music there with Lisa! Jah Shaka at Sierra Nevada Music Festival. Getting to spend time with my family was a true blessing, and meeting Lisa's family was an honor! Being around kids and young ones makes us realize who is really important in this world, the youth! Museum hopping in LA was also a real treat for an aspiring artist, as was seeing life in another city. Sundays were also a true highlight for me, linking up with so many people who share a vibration of peace and love, be sure to check my other blog, reggae church.blogspot.com , to see some of my other works!

With that I would like to wish everyone a strong and prosperous 2014.
One peace and love til we understand

Pasadena

Today I visited the Pasadena Museum of California Artists, The Pacific Asia Museum, and The Norton Simon Museum, all of which were very very impressive! Highlights included the sustainability exhibit at the PMCA, the ceramic study room at the PAM and the overall art historical importance of the Norton Simon collection!

Arts Arcata preview!

Here is a little preview for all those who check the blog and cant make it to the show tonight!

Paintings in my truck ready to be hung!

Artist Statement

These paintings were painted in the late winter, spring, and early summer of this year. The natural beauty of the earth keeps me busy balancing multiple artistic endeavors with a constant yearning to paint on location in the outdoors! As varied as my output may be I am constantly painting landscapes en plein air, an act that is artistic beyond a mere aesthetic presence. Many landscapes contain some trace of human activity or interaction, certainly regarding areas where land meets water, documenting or not documenting these interactions is just one area where representational work becomes thematic. I hope to continue learning and painting always finding a balance between different forms of artistic expression.

I would like to thank everyone who made this show possible including Lisa, all of my friends, family, and of course all the people who have and continue to support my artwork through the years. Special thanks to Chad Hatfield, of WoodLab Designs, who custom framed the whole show! I am excited and grateful at the opportunity to share these paintings with the community, look out for more paintings soon to come!
