Flourish/Nourish

This is the second piece in my current mixed media series.

"Flourish/Nourish"
2016
india ink, ink, acrylic paint, pastel, paint marker, glitter, glue and leaves on paper, mounted on linen
35.5x60 inches 42x65 inches with frame

"Flourish/Nourish" is the second piece in Yuma Lynch"s current body of mixed media work. Began as 10 sheets of paper, the ground was worked into a single expressive image through layers of paint and ink. Allowing the texture of fallen leaves to meld with various elements of the work became a driving force in the work, both pastel, and paint marker used to solidify the emerging composition. While there are decorative elements to the work, technical and conceptual references play an integral role to the creation as well as understanding of the piece. Historic and contemporary influence being present in all art, "Flourish/Nourish" is a representation of those dynamics, which are further enhanced with the viewers participation and interpretation.
