An artist is constantly reminded of the feeling of inadequacy. How does one convey something so intangible and infinite as the world around us? This current series may be viewed as an interpretation of that feeling in a way not limited to representation. These mid sized abstract pieces will be shown alongside a selection of plein air and studio pieces.

Study for large Humboldt painting

This is the study for a current commission i'm working on. This is a three panel, oil on wood, modello made to be both a study and a finished piece unto itself. The idea is to recreate an idealized version of the coast, rivers, and redwoods of Northern California.  The large version is painted on three 2x5 foot stretched canvases and will be hung on the incline of a staircase. Truly, my favorite type of project to work on!

Painting in Humboldt County!

I spent a day last month painting along the coast in Humboldt county. It was truly a blessing to be surrounded by nature, friends, and family! Plus I got 4 paintings done in a day! Here are the pictures.
